Federal Parent Plus Loans
The
Federal Parent Plus Loan is a low interest loan available to the parent
or legal guardian of dependent undergraduate students. The yearly limit
of the loan cannot exceed the cost of attendance minus other financial
aid awarded to the student. The school must approve the student to
receive funds from the Parent Plus Loan. Disbursements are made in two
parts directly to the school. Repayment on the Parent Plus Loan will
begin within 60 days after the loan is fully disbursed, but can be
repaid for up to ten years. There is no grace period on the loan;
interest begins to accrue at the time the first disbursement is made.
If loan proceeds disburse by check, the school may require you to
endorse the check and send it back before they can apply the funds to
the students' tuition, fees, and other charges. If there are loan funds
remaining, you will receive a refund check from the school unless funds
are authorized to be released to the student.
