Keesler Federal Event Raises More Than $130,000 for Veterans Group

The 15^th Annual “Eagles Under the Oaks” golf tournament sponsored by Keesler Federal Credit Union raised a record $133,000 to support the Combat Wounded Veterans of South Mississippi (CWVSM) organizers announced Thursday.

Keesler Federal has raised funds to support the organization since its inception in 2011, said CWVSM founder Donna Anderson, a former case worker with the Air Force.

“I began by just asking people for donations to help wounded soldiers who could no longer serve in the active military,” Anderson said. “I met with Keesler Federal early on and they embraced the mission. They supported us in the beginning, and ever since.”

CWVSM helps servicemen and women who have sustained physical or psychological disabilities and are now longer able to pursue their career in the military. The organization provides and connects these wounded veterans to services to assist them in the transition from military to civilian life.

“The sacrifices our wounded veterans have made for our freedom is staggering, and humbling for all of us,” said Lawrence Dupont, Keesler Federal Senior VP and Chief Risk Officer. “We all need to do everything we can to honor those sacrifices.”

The annual “Eagles Under the Oaks” tournaments have now raised more than $600,000 for CWVSM since the inaugural event in 2011 generated $13,000, which at that time was considered a huge success, said Susan Peyret, Keesler Federal Senior VP and Chief Financial Officer.

“Together today, we raised $133,000 for the Combat Wounded Veterans of South Mississippi because of the incredible corporate citizens in our region who don’t hesitate to step up to support our veterans,” Peyret said, noting that 100 percent of the tournament proceeds go directly to the veterans support organization. “This event keeps getting bigger every year which shows that a lot of people feel the same way.”

Of the more than $600,000 raised for CWVSM since 2011, more than $350,000 of that amount has been raised in just the last three years.

Keesler Federal Takes Paycheck Relief to TSA - Keesler Federal Credit Union

Keesler Federal Credit Union announced Monday it is now taking its signature Paycheck Relief program to those who need it most – federal TSA employees who have not received paychecks for more than a month. The partial government shutdown began in February leaving thousands of federal employees, primarily in the Department of Homeland Security, without pay and causing widespread disruptions in travel and public services.

Keesler Federal sent credit union officials directly to the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport to offer its Paycheck Relief program directly to TSA workers. Through Paycheck Relief, Keesler Federal advances the amount of direct deposit paychecks for eligible federal employees, helping to ensure affected employees can continue meeting their financial obligations until normal pay resumes when the shutdown ends.

There is no charge or fee to participate in Paycheck Relief. Members simply sign up for the Paycheck Relief program in person or on the Keesler Federal website. Even TSA employees who are not current Keesler Federal members can enroll immediately by sharing proof of direct deposit from their last three paychecks. Once enrolled, a member will be eligible for ongoing payroll deposits up to a maximum of 90 days.

“This government shutdown has placed an unexpected burden on thousands of federal employees and their families,” said Keesler Federal Chief Operations Officer Joshua Brown. “Our focus is to be there for the people in our communities and help ease some of the financial pressure during this difficult time.”

There is no need for the member to take any further action after successfully enrolling in the program. Once the shutdown is concluded and the member receives back pay, Keesler Federal will automatically debit the advanced payroll from the account.

Keesler Federal plans to bring the Paycheck Relief outreach to all the major airports within its service area, Brown said.

Last October during the last federal government shut down that lasted 47 days – the longest in United States history – Keesler Federal advanced over 5,000 paychecks to more than 1,700 members totaling $6.5 million.

Susan Song Recognized as one of the Top Women in Communications - Keesler Federal Credit Union

Susan Song, Chief Marketing Officer of Keesler Federal Credit Union, has been named to Ragan’s Top Women in Communications Class of 2026, the credit union announced Thursday.

Song was selected from Ragan’s largest field of nominees ever as one of the Top Ten women communications executives in the nation in the “Change Agent” category. Song and the other winners will be honored at Ragan’s awards luncheon in New York on March 3.

Song modernized the credit union’s marketing organization by implementing marketing technology to improve measurement, personalization, and cross-channel decision-making. She elevated the Keesler Federal brand through a refreshed, more legible, and differentiated brand identity by enhancing branch signage and driving market expansion by activating the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans sponsorship.

This boosted awareness in the New Orleans market and helped catalyze the historic merger between Keesler Federal and Jefferson Financial Federal Credit Union – the largest credit union merger in Louisiana and Mississippi history. In 2025, she launched the credit union’s first-ever brand campaign, ‘Live Your Way’, which has earned multiple awards.
